Uma has worked with numerous organisations and private practices including the Victorian public health system, a private practice in Geelong, Victoria and as an Associate Dentist with well-reputed dental clinics in Toowoomba and Pittsworth.

Withcott Dental  ensures that everyone feels welcome, cared for and at ease. We are an empathetic team who are passionate about ‘seeing our patients in their entirety, and not just their mouth.’ We try and make it a fun and an enjoyable experience as possible by really getting to know our patients with a genuine interest in our patient’s overall health and wellbeing.

Uma describes her role as being like a combined scientist and an artist. “The Scientist in me loves to diagnose, problem solve and think outside of the box because not everything is a textbook case. The artist enjoys creating smiles, building broken teeth and merging colours to create natural, aesthetic dentistry.”

What sets Withcott Dental apart is our fresh and modern approach to dentistry.
We establish quick rapport, are non-judgemental and explain everything in easy to understand terms which put patients at ease.

Significant investment has been made to ensure the utmost care for patient comfort and wellbeing through the following:

✔ Longer appointments
✔ Dedicated play area for children
✔ Roof-mounted TV’s with Netflix
✔ Wheelchair and double pram friendly
✔ iPad for adult or children entertainment

Community focussed

At Withcott Dental, we support the local sports clubs and we work closely with the local schools in providing dental awareness to children. Dr Uma writes a monthly dental blog in the local Withcott Times newspaper.

We are not owned by large corporate or health fund. Dr Uma Ramasamy is the owner and Principal Dentist of the clinic.

Respect

Our patients come from all walks of life and we love that aspect. We respect our patients and their needs. We love the challenge involved in working on a plan to meet their needs, considering their circumstances.

Confidential and non-judgemental

We understand that discussing dental issues with a dentist can be challenging and sometimes uncomfortable for some patients.

There may be phases in people’s life when dental health has deteriorated rapidly, and it is common for them to have concerns about getting judged.

Dr Uma and team are committed to maintain confidentiality and provide care in a non-judgemental fashion with the patient’s wellbeing in mind.

Withcott Dental take pride in removing these concerns through offering treatment plans and care that is gentle, nurturing and non-judgemental. Payment plans are available, and treatments can be tailored to suit individual needs. We have extended appointment times so that patients don’t feel rushed, which allows us to get to know our patients, and in turn, reduce anxiety. With Uma being our Principal Dentist, patients can always rest assured that they have a continuation of premium care.

Uma is experienced in handling anything from a regular scale & clean to surgical extractions, root canal treatment and cosmetic dentistry. Uma is particularly useful in treating children and patients who are anxious about visiting the dentist. For a full range of services, click here.
We look forward to welcoming and caring for you and your health at Withcott Dental.

Uma and Withcott Dental Team

Our Dental Assistants

Kerrie - Dental Assistant.

Kerrie is a qualified dental assistant who has extensive experience in dental assisting. Kerrie is a Withcott local and brings a wealth of experience in dental assisting.

“I love working in a team that enjoys dental work, and I think it’s great that we’re making a difference to the health of our community.
I was previously a client of Dr Uma’s, until she offered me a position here. If she hadn’t stolen me away, I would be a professional supercar driver, or enjoying early retirement, sipping pina-coladas on the beach! “

– Kerrie

Alyssa - Dental Assistant.

Alyssa began her career as a dental assistant at Withcott Dental and has been since the very first day we opened our clinic. Prior to dentistry, Alyssa has worked as a beauty therapist for six years. Alyssa is currently on her way to gain her Certificate III in dental assisting.

“I find my favourite thing about dental is cosmetic dentistry, as our clients can have such a visible improvement to their smile and are so happy with their results. I love being part of a fun team and having a laugh with the work girls!”

– Alyssa

Del - Dental Assistant.

Del is the youngest member of the team and is currently undertaking studies to complete certificate III in dental assisting. Del loves spending her weekends going on adventures with her puppy Tinkabell.

“My favourite part about the job is working with young kids and seeing the amazement on their faces when find out that there is a TV on the ceiling and get stuck into their favourite shows”

– Del

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) has been introduced by the federal government to make that task a little easier if you receive benefits such as Family Tax Benefit A payments. The CDBS helps you keep your kids’ teeth in great shape by providing you with up to $1000 that you can use over a two calendar year period on a range of dental services including examinations, routine cleaning, fillings, and root canals.

You can call our clinic on 07 3185 1713 to check your child’s eligibility for CDBS.

If you’re a veteran, and a holder of a Gold Card or White Card with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), you are eligible to receive treatment from any dentist registered to provide services through the Medicare Benefits Scheme. At Withcott Dental, we are registered to provide services through DVA programs.

Gold Card holders will usually have all their dental treatments funded, provided the dentist establishes a clinical need for the treatment, while white card holders receive services in line with their recognised conditions. Depending on the types of treatment you need, the dentist will either be able to perform the work immediately and without approval from the DVA, or will need to seek approval from the department before proceeding.

So for instance, procedures like dental examinations, X-rays and temporary crowns can be done without delay, while some surgical work, dental implants and artificial tooth replacements known as dental prostheses will have to wait till the DVA provides approval.

The good news is that many general dental treatments don’t require approval.
